Letter to the Editor Fall 2006

As the leadership race began to heatup, so did I. Outraged by some of the things said by the leadership candidates, i wrote this letter to point out some of the more obvious blunders in legal/political double-speak...
Following this politian's argument to its logical conclusion would lead to unintended and perhaps undesired results.

Both Josh and I volunteer at the Ottawa Mission in the addictions service's Lighthouse program. This program helps reforming addicts get back on track. Josh and I, each Friday, teach a cooking class that aims to give clients the conceptual tools needed to make good food choices. Cooking with these fellows has been one of my greatest experiences this year!

Once upon a time

My core interests, and the vast majority of my writing and reading, revolve around the study of ethics, political philosophy and law.

ABOUT ME:

I have lived in Cayuga Ontario, Toronto, Ottawa, Yellowknife NWT, Boston (US), Shanghai (PRC), Sheffield (UK)

I received a BA in Political Science from the University of Waterloo; BA in Law from Carleton University, Certificate in Intermediate Chinese (Mandarin) from Hua Dong Shifen University, Credit in Political Science from Harvard University, LLB from Sheffield Hallam University, and LLM from the University of Ottawa.

I am a member of the Ontario Bar, Brant Law Association, Hamilton Law Association, and Canadian Bar Association

I lecture on Ethics and the importance of "Active Citizenship"

My core interests are Political Philosophy, Law, Ethics, Moral Philosophy, and the Philosophy of Education. My specific areas of interest are legal and political obligation, legal duty, moral and ethical duty and responsibility, and social and political structuralism

My favourite writers are John Stuart Mill, Henry David Thoreau, Plato, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, John Rawls, Isaiah Berlin, Hanna Pitkin, Ghandi, Jean Jacques Rousseau, David Hume and Michael Sandel.
